Phumelela Turffontien Race Course

Built in 1887, the Phumelela Turffontein Race Track is one of South Africa's oldest horse racing venues and is the home of horse racing in Gauteng. It ranks high amongst the premier horseracing venues in the world. The track is located in Johannesburg's Southern Suburbs, with easy access from the M2 highway and ample secure parking available. The Apartheid Museum
This museum opened in 2001 and is acknowledged as the pre-eminent museum in the world dealing with 20 th century South Africa , at the heart of which is the apartheid story, the triumph of the human spirit over adversity. Beginning in 1948, the white elected National Party government implemented the policy of apartheid which turned 20 million people into second class citizens, damning them to a life of servitude, humiliation and abuse. Their liberation in 1994 with the election of Nelson Mandela, the prisoner who became president, is a climax in the saga of a nation's resistance, courage and fortitude. The Apartheid Museum , the first of its kind, illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid.

The new 100-seater 4-D cinema will bring cinematic entertainment in four dimensions to Johannesburg for the first time. Visitors will be able to watch images come to spectacular life in glorious 4D, while hydraulic seats, vapors, and a range of smells and scents suited to the illusions on the screen will add an extra dimension to the experience. The Amphitheatre features brilliant birdshows, featuring birds of prey and stunning other talented birds. This venue is also used for animal shows for the younger school generation.

The Gold Reef City Theme Park is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9:30am - 17:00pm
and is open every day during Gauteng School Holidays, except for Christmas Day.
